Obsidian is a notes app built around a folder of Markdown files, called a vault. Links between notes let an idea point to a related concept, project or source without forcing everything into one long document. The mobile app makes that collection available for reading and capture away from a computer. A useful first vault needs only a few notes and sensible titles. Add links when they help explain a relationship, rather than building an impressive graph for its own sake. Decide how the vault will be synchronized and backed up before editing the same files across multiple devices. Obsidian suits people who enjoy controlling the structure of their notes and want readable underlying files. It can require more setup than a conventional cloud notebook. Community plugins add flexibility but also introduce maintenance and trust decisions, so begin with the core app and add extensions only for a defined need. Con
- Synchronization and backup arrangements need explicit planning.
- Plugins and customization can become a distraction from writing.
